2021 prospect Khi Holiday talks new Mississippi State opportunity - 247Sports

2021 athlete prospect Khi Holiday compiled an impressive career at Tupelo Christian Prep and his numbers show just that.

This past season the 5-foot-9 and 160-pound Holiday helped lead his team to the second round of the Class 1A playoffs. Lining up mostly at quarterback, Holiday passed for 2,859 yards with 41 touchdowns and 12 interceptions en route to earning Class 1A offensive player of the year for a second straight season.

"We had a good season and made it to the second round," said Holiday, who recently posted a sub-4.4 forty time. "All in all my senior season was good and me and my friends had a lot of fun playing together in our last year. I got better at reading defenses and I ran the ball better, too."

Earlier this week, Holiday had one more opportunity to display his talent on the high school level. He participated in the Dream Bowl in Alabama and once again Holiday stood out on the field.

"It was fun going to the Dream Bowl," said Holiday. "It was in Gulf Shores, Ala., and it was a collection of all-stars from several states. I played quarterback and slot receiver in the game and I had an 88-yard touchdown. I think I ended up with five catches and over 200 all-purpose yards."

Last month saw Holiday sign with Northeast Mississippi Community College. However, he is starting to get other opportunities at the next level. That includes a recent preferred walkon offer from Mississippi State.

"Schools are recruiting me as a slot receiver and that's fine with me," said Holiday. "I had a lot of jucos that offered me and I just got a preferred walkon offer from Mississippi State. North Alabama is also showing interest and so is Ole Miss and Memphis. But so far only Mississippi State has offered me as a preferred walkon."

Holiday noted of his recent conversations with Mississippi State's staff, which have mainly been with Bulldog assistant Matt Brock. And thus far, Holiday likes the feedback he has received.

"I've been talking a lot with Coach Matt Brock from Mississippi State and it's been going good," Holiday said. "They like my speed a lot and I know they throw it a lot on offense. Coach Brock said I could play slot there and he wants to see me catch a lot of passes. He also likes my explosiveness when I catch the ball."

For now, Holiday isn't rushing his final decision on the recruiting trail. He does have some options but wants to make sure of his future before making that final call.

"Right now I am just focused on finishing high school," said Holiday. "I will see where God takes me and where I fit the best. I would say I am looking at Mississippi State, Memphis, Ole Miss and of course, Northeast Mississippi Community College. But I am not sure when I will have that decision made."
