Who and where • Judy Lampe of Ballwin at the entrance to Mont Saint Michel in Normandy, France, in the Gulf of Saint-Malo, connected by a causeway with the mainland. The islet is surrounded by water 100 days of the year.
The trip • Five women took a 12-day British Isles cruise and spent the last day in France. After they left the ship, they flew back to Dublin for a two-day land tour of the Cliffs of Moher and the Dingle Peninsula.
Travel tip • A guided tour is best so you can listen to the spectacular history of this site that dates back to the Middle Ages. Make sure you have a bottle of water. The climb to the top has 400 steps.
