DRIPPING SPRINGS

Donations sought

for holiday lights

The Dripping Springs City Council approved a $5,000 matching grant to the Dripping Springs Visitors Bureau for holiday lights on Mercer Street.

The grant must be matched to receive the full $5,000. The Visitors Bureau has raised a little over $3,000, currently, so an additional $2,000 must be raised to receive the $5,000 grant to hang the lights on each business on Mercer Street, install the photo op and the displays.

Individuals and businesses in the Dripping Springs area can help by contributing a tax-deductible donation of $20 or more to help fund the Light Up Historic Mercer Street campaign.

To donate, visit destinationdrippingsprings.com/holidays; bring a check to the Visitors Bureau, 509 Mercer St.; or mail one to P.O. Box 206, Dripping Springs, TX 78620.

JOHNSON CITY

Park Service launches

LBJ Park mobile app

The National Park Service has launched a new app for Apple and Android devices called NPS Lyndon B. Johnson to help guests better explore Lyndon B. Johnson National Historical Park, including the LBJ Ranch, as well as Johnson City and Stonewall.

The app will feature an interactive digital park map with filter tools allowing searches for services in the park, such as restrooms, water fountains and Wi-Fi locations; information about points of interests with text and photographs; self-guided walking tours of Johnson City and the Johnson Settlement; a digital companion on the LBJ Ranch driving tour; and audio-described sites, alternative text images and other accessibility features.

The app will also contain information on the neighboring Lyndon B. Johnson State Park and Historic Site, including the Sauer-Beckmann Living History Farm where costumed interpreters carry out the day-to-day activities of an early 1900s Texas-German farm.

The app is available in the Apple Store and Google Play Store, or by visiting nps.gov/lyjo/planyourvisit/app.htm.

Artists sought for

Town Center mural

Wolf Ranch Town Center, in partnership with the Georgetown Arts and Culture Board, is seeking artist applications to design and install a red poppy-themed mural to be installed this fall.

Submissions are due by 5 p.m. Sept. 30.

The selected mural would go on an exterior wall, approximately 16 feet high and 27 feet long, near the Starbucks at the center. Mural designs should feature red poppies and imagery, reflecting the community connection between Wolf Ranch Town Center and the Downtown Georgetown Cultural District five miles from the center. A $5,000 stipend will be paid to the selected artist.
