Harrisburg will hold a ‘Reverse Holiday Parade’ in November on City Island - PennLive

Harrisburg is accepting applications for those who wish to participate in the 2020 Reverse Holiday Parade.

In a reverse parade, the city said the parade participants are stationary while the the attendees drive by in their vehicles to see the floats, characters, bands and organizations that will be "stationed along a loop around City Island.

The parade will be held 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, Nov. 21.

On its website, the city said, "There will be no entrance fee for vehicles and all spectators must be in vehicles.

No pedestrians, bikes, etc will be permitted. The first 150 vehicles will receive a goodie bag of candy and items from the parade entrant participants. Plan to arrive early, the last vehicle will be permitted at [noon]."

The parade will only be held if the weather is good. Rain and or snow date is Dec. 5.

There is no fee to participate in the parade. Application deadline is Oct. 9. The theme is “Hometown Holiday.” The winning entry will receive a $100 Amazon gift card.

The parade will be canceled if there are less than 25 participants. Participants may not distribute candy or other material during the parade.

Groups will be assigned a space a minimum of 25 feet from other groups and “a safe distance” from the vehicles viewing the parade.
