As we swing into the holiday season, the Greeley Area Chamber, Visit Greeley, Downtown Development Authority and city of Greeley are excited to announce a new upcoming holiday event for 2020.
Holiday Lane at Island Grove will kick off for the first time on Friday, Nov. 27, running through Saturday, Nov. 28, offering a drive-through holiday light experience.
Visitors to the event will be able to enjoy various holiday displays and lights that loop around Island Grove from the warmth and comfort of their vehicle.
The event was created after city officials determined that the annual Greeley Lights the Night Parade would not be able to go forward this year due to the pandemic.
“We love our Greeley Lights the Night Parade and are looking forward to bringing back that wonderful holiday classic in 2021,” said Amy Dugan, Visit Greeley director. “In the meantime, let’s start this new tradition where we will still decorate for the holidays.”
Past parade entrants, businesses, community members and organizations are invited to take part in the Holiday Lane event by purchasing and decorating a 20-foot section along the route. Sections are $40 each and will include electricity.
Displays can be set up from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday, Nov. 27 and left up through Saturday’s event. Displays cannot include live people or animals. Participants are asked to include a banner with a spotlight letting visitors know who decorated the area.
Gates for the event will open at 5:30 p.m. and things will wrap up around 8:30 p.m. Admission is $5 per car and $10 for large passenger or commercial vans. The event is accepting cash only, no debit or credit cards.
