Entries are needed for the annual Leader Holiday Recipe Contest.

The annual Leader Holiday Dinner, a collaborative event sponsored by Leader Publications and Jefferson College, will not be held this year because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

However, the contest will still offer readers the chance to share their holiday recipes in five categories: appetizers, soups, salads, side dishes and desserts.

The winning recipe in each category will win a $50 cash prize. An overall winner chosen from the finalists will receive an additional $50. Winning recipes will be published in a Holiday Gift Guide special section in the Nov. 25 issue of the paper.

Jefferson County and Eureka residents of all ages are invited to submit a recipe in any category, up to a maximum of five per reader. Recipes that are family favorites or that have a history or story attached are preferred. The deadline for recipe submissions is 5 p.m. Friday, Nov. 6. To be eligible for the contest, entries must include the submitter’s full name, address and daytime telephone number.

Recipes may be submitted by mail at P.O. Box 159, Festus, 63028; in person at 503 N. Second in Festus; or by email at news@leaderpublications.biz.

For information, call the Leader at 636-931-7560.
