City Announces Winter Holiday Closings | City News | Greensboro, NC - greensboro-nc.gov

City offices are closed on Thursday, December 24, Friday, December 25, and Monday, December 28, as well as Friday, January 1, 2021 for the winter holidays. The following services and facilities will operate on a holiday schedule:

  • There are no trash and recycling collections on Friday, December 25. Thursday’s collection will be on Wednesday, December 23, and Friday’s collection will be on Thursday, December 24. There is also no trash or recycling collections on Friday, January 1, 2021. Friday’s collection will be Thursday, December 31 and Thursday’s collection will be on Wednesday, December 30.
  • The White Street Landfill and the Solid Waste Transfer Station will close at 3 pm Thursday, December 24. Both facilities will be closed Friday, December 25, Saturday, December 26 and Friday, January 1, 2021.

     

  • The Greensboro Public Library system and the Greensboro History Museum will be closed December 24-28, as well as Friday, January 1, 2021.
  • The Greensboro Cultural Center will be closed December 24-28 and also January 1. The building will close at 5 pm on both December 23 and 31.
  • Greensboro Transit Agency (GTA) and SCAT are operating on the following schedule for the holidays: •Thursday, December 24 –hourly service ending at 6 pm •Friday, December 25 – no service •Thursday, December 31 – hourly service ending at 6 pm Friday, January 1, 2021 – no service
  • HEAT is closed and resumes operations on January 17. The GTA Administrative offices are closed December 24-28, and Friday, January 1, 2021.

     

  • Parks and Recreation administrative offices, City Beautiful, and Adaptive and Inclusive Recreation will be closed Thursday, December 24 through Monday, December 28, and Friday, January 1, 2021. Other Parks and Recreation Services affected include:
    • Regional parks, including Barber, Country, Hester, Keeley and Price, are closed on Friday, December 25 only.
    • Cemeteries are open to the public, but no services will be performed on Thursday, December 24 and Friday, December 25.
    • Botanical Gardens, including Tanger Family Bicentennial Garden, Greensboro Arboretum, Bog Garden and Gateway Gardens, will be closed on Friday, December 25 only.
    • Greensboro Sportsplex, Simkins Indoor Sports Pavilion, Barber Park Events Center and all recreation centers are closed Thursday, December 24 through Monday, December 28, and on Friday, January 1, 2021.  
    • Greensboro Youth Council office is closed Monday, December 21 through Friday, January 1 and reopens Monday, January 4, 2021.
    • Smith and Trotter Active Adult Centers are closed Thursday, December 24 through Monday, December 28, and closed Friday, January 1, 2021.
    • City lakes, including Brandt, Higgins and Townsend are closed Thursday, December 24 and Friday, December 25, and Friday, January 1, 2021. Lake Brandt and Townsend will be open Monday December 28.
    • Gillespie Golf Course will close at 4 pm Thursday, December 24, be closed Friday, December 25, and return to normal hours of operation Saturday, December 26. Gillespie will be open normal hours on New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day. 
  • Emergency service is available for water and sewer needs after normal business hours and on weekends. Water customers can call 336-373-2489 (CITY) to report water or sewer problems. After placing the call, please follow the prompts to connect to the Water Resources dispatcher.
