On Monday, the Manchester School District will return to a hybrid model for the first time after going fully remote for the holidays. This will be the first time 12th graders will have the opportunity to attend in-person classes since March. All Manchester Schools except Hallsville Elementary will welcome back students since the holidays.Besides students in special education and technical programs, a majority of the class of 2021 have been working remote since school buildings closed at the beginning of the pandemic. West High School Principal Richard Dichard said those students will not all return at once. Rather, they will trickle in slowly, working on an A-B hybrid schedule. Half of the students will be in-school Mondays and Tuesdays, the other half will be in on Thursdays and Fridays.Dichard said the school has been following COVID-19 guidelines for other students who have been in-person since the start of the school year, and that will continue for this new group.“A lot of people have done great work in preparing us with various safety measures,” Dichard said. “We’re following guidelines from our health department. If we all follow the guidelines that have been set for us – social distancing, masking up, six feet, this should go off without issue.”Dichard said he and his team will do everything they can to provide a safe school environment for students. Parents have the opportunity to keep their children remote if they choose to do that.
