Bay Federal Credit Union members and employees raised $31,899.63 for Second Harvest Food Bank’s Holiday Food Drive ending Dec. 31. This record amount doubles the previous amount from 2019.

Thanks to Second Harvest’s partnerships with farmers, retailers and food bank networks, this donation translates into nearly 127,600 healthy meals for families in Santa Cruz County. Due to the pandemic, Bay Federal was not able to offer donation barrels at its locations as it did in previous years. The organization focused on an online giving presence to keep members safe.

Bay Federal Credit Union has supported Second Harvest Food Bank for 24 years.

Education

The following local students were honored for their academic achievement:

• Viviane King-Adas, of Capitola, was named to the dean’s list for the fall 2020 semester at Northeastern University in Boston.

• Marcos Kvaternik, of Santa Cruz, was named to the dean’s list for the fall 2020 semester at Northeastern University in Boston.

• Tatum Gaudinski Whitehead, of Santa Cruz, was named to the dean’s list for the fall 2020 semester at Northeastern University in Boston.

• Alexandra Carl, of Santa Cruz, was named to the dean’s list for the fall 2020 semester at Northeastern University in Boston.

• Kienan Blatchley-Martins, of Santa Cruz, was named to the dean’s list for the fall 2020 semester at Northeastern University in Boston.

• Lucas Adams, of Santa Cruz, was named to the dean’s list for the fall 2020 semester at Northeastern University in Boston.

• Jaime Kvaternik, of Santa Cruz, was named to the dean’s list for the fall 2020 semester at Northeastern University in Boston. Kvaternik was also named to the University Honors Program.

• Leo Waltzer, of Scotts Valley, was named to the dean’s list for the fall 2020 semester at Northeastern University in Boston.

• Shelby Szilagyi, of Monte Serrano, was named to the dean’s list for the fall 2020 semester at Northeastern University in Boston.

• Jack Waiss, of Los Gatos, was named to the dean’s list for the fall 2020 semester at Northeastern University in Boston. Waiss was also named to the University Honors Program.

• Casey Kamali, of Los Gatos, was named to the dean’s list for the fall 2020 semester at Northeastern University in Boston.

• Sydney Bibaud, of Los Gatos, was named to the dean’s list for the fall 2020 semester at Northeastern University in Boston.

• Katherine Day, of Los Gatos, was named to the dean’s list for the fall 2020 semester at Northeastern University in Boston.

• Mary Whitney, of Aptos, was named to the dean’s list for the fall 2020 semester at the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, Massachusetts.
