Many have shifted to working from home over the last year. Before the COVID-19 pandemic, just 20% of all employed people whose jobs could be done remotely actually operated from home all or most of the time. That number has skyrocketed to 71% and 54% of people with jobs that could be done remotely say they want to keep working from home once the pandemic ends.

But what makes conditions for working remotely? Low costs, reasonable comfort and a high-security level, are what personal-finance website WalletHub valued in their new study released Tuesday.

The study found that Colorado has the highest share of the labor force working from home in the country. The report detailed that 8.3% of people are working remotely, which is 3.5 times higher than in Mississippi, with the lowest at 2.4%.

Colorado ranked as the 12th best state in the union to work from home in.

Delaware, North Carolina, Georgia, New Hampshire and Tennesse ranked as the five best states to work from home at.

Alaska, Hawaii, North Dakota, Mississippi and Arkansas were the five worst states for working remotely.

Colorado’s high costs of living, including rent and internet prices, pushed the state down the list.
