SATELLITE BEACH, Fla - To be the best you have to put in the work. One Satellite Beach athlete understands that. His hard work his paying off but for Jack Lindstrom, his attitude is what will take him far.

“He just really wants to win in everything he does,” says Joey Jones, Tennis Director at Kiwi Tennis Club.  “It’s just something a little different about him. Most kids aren’t like that.”  The 12-year-old is constantly working to get better.  “On average he is playing a minimum of three hours of tennis and can be as much as five hours a day,” says Jones.

“It’s one of those sports and you start to like it and you start playing it more and you can’t stop,” says Lindstrom.

His start was a little earlier than most.  “First time I stepped on a court and picked up a racket I was two,” says Lindstrom.  Ten years later and jack is making waves in the tennis world.  Recently earning the number one spot in the state for his age division.  “It’s difficult. It really is. Florida is such a hotbed for tennis. You have all of these huge academies and big clubs that have numerous players and for Jack to accomplish that it’s unreal," says Jones.

But for Jack this feat is just more motivation. “Being one in the 12s is like a memory, like something I can remember when I grow up but like it’s something that I really wanted and I got there but it’s like cool lets move on and get to number one in the 14s, 16s and the 18s,” says Jack.  “Right after he won that big tournament in Georgia he got back on Tuesday and on Wednesday he was back here at 10 o’clock for his lesson and he was acting like he lost first round because he was working hard motivated and wanted to get better,” says Jones.

A competitive drive he credits to playing with his 17-year-old brother.  “It’s a tough competition for me and he’s a great tennis player and I look up to him a lot,” says Jack.

Even though Jack’s skills are well beyond his years, he is just getting started.  “Keep working hard. find someone that you can lookup to that can push you harder and never give up and keep that fighting spirit,” says Jack.
