Patriots’ Day 2021 is Monday, April 19. The holiday commemorates the 246th anniversary of the opening battles of the American Revolution at Lexington and Concord.
Patriots’ Day is a state holiday in Massachusetts, Maine (which was a part of the Bay State until the early 19th century) and Wisconsin. Starting in 2018, Patriots’ Day became a holiday in Connecticut. Then-Gov. Dannel Malloy signed a bill in 2017 establishing the unpaid state holiday.
Here is what’s open and what’s closed in Massachusetts, plus some details on related events, adjusted for safety during the coronavirus pandemic.
