In addition to main installation, work crews are scheduled to replace services on:

North 5th Street (between 4th Avenue West and 3rd Avenue West), 7th Avenue West (between North 6th Street and North 7th Street), Roseville Avenue (between 2nd Avenue West and 1st Avenue West), 1st Avenue West (between North 6th Street and North 10th Street), 2nd Avenue West (between North 6th Street and Lawton Street), Dewey Street (between Hawthorne Avenue and Sarah Vaughn Place), Montgomery Avenue (between Clinton Avenue & Avon Avenue), Baldwin Avenue (between Avon Avenue and Clinton Avenue) and 19th Avenue (between South 20th Street and South 19th Street)

The project, started in August 2020, is part of PSE&G’s Gas System Modernization Program II (GSMP II) and includes the replacement of nearly 27 miles of cast iron pipes with new, more durable, plastic pipes. All work is weather dependent.

Following the installation of new mains, technicians schedule times with homeowners to connect their service to the new system, during which time customers can expect to lose service for about four hours. Gas meters will be relocated to the outside of the property, and technicians will relight all appliances and ensure that they are working properly before leaving the premises.

In light of the COVID-19 pandemic, and in the interest of maintaining the safety of customers, employees, and their families, PSE&G workers and PSE&G contractors follow safety protocols guided by the CDC and NJ State Department of Health, as well as all directives from the Governor’s Office and county/municipal governments.  When entering homes, PSE&G technicians will be wearing personal protective equipment and will maintain physical distancing throughout the appointment. Customers are asked to help maintain a safe distance during the appointments and to allow technicians to enter through the nearest entryway in proximity to the meter set location.

Customers can contact PSE&G at 1-833-661-6300 or email at gasworks@pseg.com.
